I bought some window stickers as Christmas decorations. Some are very Christmassy, like presents, stockings, and Santa Claus in his sleigh. I took them off, but left some snowflakes, snowmen, and reindeer. My partner says they’re Christmas decorations and I should take them down. Although I’m not a big Christmas fan, January seems very gloomy to me, and a few snowflakes on the window seem like a winter fantasy.
They’re clearly Christmas decorations, but who cares if they bring you joy?
I used to take down all the decorations for Epiphany, but in recent years I’ve embraced the idea of "winter decorating" and leave the outdoor lights on for most of January. But sometimes, even Santa-worthy decorations get taken down. Life’s already monotonous enough, so I might as well add a touch of whimsy!
These are, of course, winter decorations you can keep until spring! Note: We use Christmas lights to illuminate our bedroom year-round. They make the beige of our rental apartment look less beige ![]()
I have sparkling snowflakes and a deer in my window all year round. The sticker sheet only cost a pound, but it looks like they spent £0.99 on the glue. ![]()
Snowflakes = winter decorations. Reindeer, tree ornaments, Christmas trees, angels = Christmas decorations. But let’s face it: if your window stickers bring you joy, keep them, whether they’re winter or Christmas decorations. Joy is important and can be found everywhere!
You can still claim to be Orthodox.
I’d say snowflakes are more wintery than Christmassy, but honestly: as long as they brighten your day, it doesn’t matter! I bought some flocked snowflake stars for my bedroom window, and they don’t fall off until… well, I don’t know. Maybe not until they start falling.
Personally, I agree with your partner. You should follow the supermarket’s example and show off your Easter stickers.
It’s beautiful in January, I’d say, because it’s snowing! I’m even busier than usual because I love seeing them. I’ll post them online when I get tired of them.
I, who can’t stand taking down Christmas decorations before January 15th, am delighted with your “winter decorations.” Anything that dispels the winter blues is great!
January is very gloomy, you’re absolutely right! We could use some cheering up.
Snow-related activities are interesting until Easter. In Great Britain, the chances of enjoying a white Easter are higher than at Christmas.
These are the desired decorations. Leave them in place.
It’s always Christmas. Christmas begins on Christmas Day and ends on February 2nd, Candlemas. Traditionally, this was the day the decorations brought by the workers were removed, until the Victorian era replaced it with Epiphany so the workers could return to the factory faster. Queen Elizabeth II always left her tree up until Candlemas. I don’t know what Charles does. Those who decorate early, before or during Advent, follow the American Christmas or the Christmas of the Crafts.
