Hey everyone,
I’ve been looking around for some cheap family Christmas pajamas under $20, but honestly, it’s been harder than I expected to find good ones that don’t look or feel too cheap. I checked a few places online — read reviews on BuzzFeed, Good Housekeeping, and The Spruce — and they listed a bunch of options, but many are either out of stock or only available in limited sizes.
Right now, I’ve shortlisted these two sets:
PatPat Family Matching Christmas Pajamas
Just Love Buffalo Plaid Family Pajamas
Both are under $20 and have good ratings, but I can’t decide which one would be better for our Christmas morning photos and comfy to wear all day. We’re a family of four (two adults and two kids), so I’m trying to keep it affordable but still cute and festive.
Has anyone here bought either of these or found another great deal on matching family pajamas under $20? I’d really appreciate your recommendations or store tips.
Thanks in advance!
I got the PatPat family pajamas last year and they were surprisingly nice for the price! The fabric isn’t super thick, but soft enough for lounging and pictures. Just size up if you order — they shrink a bit after washing.
We did the Just Love buffalo plaid set last Christmas and honestly, no regrets. The pattern looks great in photos, and they didn’t fade even after a few washes. Only downside — the men’s top ran a little small.
If you’re trying to stay under $20, check out Walmart’s “George” family PJs. They usually drop a ton of new designs in November, and I grabbed ours for $16 per set last year. They were cozy and looked way more expensive than they were!
I vote PatPat! I ordered a reindeer print set last week and they came in super fast. The material is stretchy and soft, perfect for family photos with little kids. Plus, they had a 20% coupon on top of the sale — total win.
I think Target sometimes does matching pajamas for around $15 during early Black Friday. I got ours there in 2023 and they were much better quality than what I found on Amazon. The fabric felt thicker and didn’t lose shape.
I wasn’t impressed with PatPat when I bought from them two years ago. The print was cute, but the fabric was thin and got pilly fast. If you want to stay in the $20 range, I’d suggest waiting for Old Navy’s holiday sale — their family sets sometimes drop to $18–$19 and are way better quality.
Just wanted to say, the buffalo plaid ones are basically a Christmas classic. You can’t go wrong with that pattern — it looks great in every family photo. I also noticed they’re on sale on Amazon right now for $17.99.
We tried the Just Love pajamas and they were a hit! My daughter loved the matching dog version too (if you have pets, that’s a fun extra). I’d buy them again, but maybe in a different color next time.
Not sure if it helps, but Kohl’s has family sets from Cuddl Duds that sometimes dip under $20 during flash sales. They’re really soft, though sizing can be tricky — kids’ sizes sell out fast.
I’d say go with PatPat if you want variety — they’ve got so many prints it’s ridiculous. But for long-lasting quality, maybe wait for Target or Old Navy deals to hit next month. Under $20 is totally doable, just gotta catch those early sales.
My solution is the Buffalo Plaid pattern Invest in a new outfit for you and your husband, and buy a new one for your kids every year The pattern is easy to find in many stores, a Christmas classic, and always available
The Hanna Anderson gnomes have been around for five years now We adults haven’t changed sizes, and with two children, I’ll buy the next size up in the January sales, since I already have about five The youngest should get a new set for next Christmas
Our solution is simple wear Christmas pajamas all year round
For us, there are no perfect combinations, just coordinated pieces Whatever I find, I buy secondhand at thrift stores or at Once Upon a Child
The first year, I bought a few larger sizes in the afterholiday sale Is there a secondhand children’s clothing store nearby I bought several that way because it was a popular brand I was also lucky enough to share some extra sizes in a Facebook group for moms Edit It sounds crazy, but now I have most sizes between 12 and 14
One from my first purchase, four on sale, six secondhand
I don’t like buying pajamas that I only wear for a month or two a year Personally, I find it wasteful, so I don’t participate But I do love seeing my friends and family on social media wearing matching outfits
I never thought I’d be that person, but my little girl is a huge fan and it definitely brings a sense of family togetherness, so I’m pretty sure I’ll do it every year as long as she lets me
I only make matching pajamas for the kids They love them and need new ones every year My husband refuses to wear pajamas and hates the extra cost One year I made matching swimsuits because I thought they were so cute, and he promptly asked me to return his because he didn’t want to spend so much money on it In my opinion, matching pajamas for the whole family are just a social media thing Who sees the whole family in pajamas if we don’t post a picture We could make matching sweatshirts they’re a little more practical and we’re more likely to wear them outside the house where people will see them
Every year we receive matching Burt’s Bees pajamas We wear them all winter and buy a new pair the following year To ensure some children don’t find them unnecessary, we donate our children’s clothes for another child in need to wear
