how do you put ornaments on a christmas tree

I hope I’m allowed to post this. I recently decorated my 6-foot tree, and now it looks awful. Does anyone have any advice on how to place the decorations, etc.?

Two tricks have completely changed the way I decorate trees: 1. Don’t just wrap lights around branches; insert them inside and outside. Lights inside make it sparkle. 2. Place lots of bulbs inside, not just on the outside branches. They reflect tons of light, add depth, and fill in the spaces.

If it looks sparsely decorated, add large filler ornaments like poinsettias or bows. There are 10-packs of red velvet wreath bows available on Amazon for about $25. If you have a lot of fun-shaped ornaments, invest in coordinating ball ornaments. You can find them at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Amazon. Consider a color scheme like red and white, green and red, etc. For decorating tips, check out YouTube videos on grouping ornaments.

Find some large objects for your tree. Secure them with pipe cleaners. Use ice skates, sleds, lanterns, birdcages, etc. to create a fun theme. Then, place light bulbs around them. Get a ribbon and watch a YouTube video to learn how to hang it. Don’t wrap ribbon or garland around the tree or let it sway.

I’m sure it looks better than you think. The tips depend on the type of decorations you have. I hope it makes sense. Keep visual balance in mind. For example, if you have red, green, and gold baubles, you’ll want to distribute the colors and shapes. I make all the identical baubles at once, so the large red ones go around the tree before moving on to the medium-sized green ones. And so on. Homemade decorations go up at the same time and with the same balance. I’ll do something like one at the top right, then one a little lower on the left, then one in the center, etc. The same goes for candy canes, bows, or whatever you’re using. I make lights, garland, and then ornaments (usually specialty ornaments) and fill the whole thing with baubles. Depending on how many lights you use, sometimes you have to be careful when hanging the ornaments so you don’t block all the light in one section. If you have kids, ask them to help you and it will look balanced, but that’s okay

Am I missing the shot?
