My mom isn’t the spa type or anything like that. Yet, all the messages I read just say, “Give her a manicure!” or “Take her out to dinner!” She loves gardening and has chickens. But I want to give her something practical, not just a plant. What do I get her?
A digital photo frame with family photos is meaningful, a foot massager is always a plus, Lego flowers if you prefer an unusual plant, and a towel warmer is probably the best gift I’ve ever given my mom. If you’re still looking for ideas, I found [this list is the best for finding gifts for mom]
Give her high-quality basics. I bought my mom some high-quality t-shirts from highr.co and she loved them. I see her wearing them all the time, and it makes me happy.
We gave our dad’s wife an apron with small openings so she could hold each egg one by one as she collected them. We weren’t sure if she’d like it or use it (to each her own), but she loves it!
I love gardening and I have chickens. Why not combine the two? A seed tray with a wire mesh frame on top and chicken feed seeds (barley, wheat, kibble, etc.). This way, you can grow fresh vegetables for the chickens without them being able to uproot the roots or cut the food growing through the mesh.
We bought my mom a garden kneeler. It has a raised and lowered function, so she can sit or kneel on the padded part while gardening.
It may be an unpopular opinion, but anyone with a hobby knows better than anyone what they need. So I wouldn’t buy her anything related to that. Unless she hasn’t bought something specific yet because it’s expensive, hard to find, or she hasn’t been able to afford it. I would give her a bouquet of flowers and a gift certificate to her favorite garden center. My mother, for example, loves adult coloring books. Should I get her something related to that? No. I’d be doing myself a disservice. She knows the latest books, the best materials, and knows what she needs and wants.
I just want company. My children to come with their families. No gifts. I don’t need anything.
A visit. Bring them flowers and invite them to brunch.
My mother-in-law loves gardening, and I gave her a gardening basket for her birthday, a gift she loves and uses often
Do you have an apron for collecting chicken eggs?
We go to the nursery with my mother-in-law; she collects all the annuals, and when we get home, we plant them wherever she wants. It’s a perfect time to bond as a family, and she thinks of her children every time she sees their pots.
Hmm, maybe a weeding kneepad. I like to search “gift ideas” on Amazon and sort by women, gardening, etc. A lot of things pop up that give you good ideas.
My sister is a passionate gardener. For her birthday, I jokingly gave her some gardening gloves with giant claws from Amazon. They were so cute. Turns out she loves them for planting flowers. No tools needed!
- Wind chimes - Birdhouses (for wild birds) - Portable outdoor fire pit - Cast iron stove - Crocs (great for easy entry and exit!)
Is there a nursery or garden center in your city? You could give them a gift card, but make sure you tape it to something nice.
