Where to buy fresh christmas wreaths?

I’ve seen that Sam’s sells “fresh” fir wreaths, but I’ve never bought or made one. My questions are: How long do they last? Are they better than artificial or plastic ones? Do the pine needles fall off in the car on the way home? I’ve been wanting to make my own fir wreath for a while, but I don’t think I have the time. We have a screen door, which should protect it from strong winds most of the time. Please give me your feedback and help!

I think its longevity depends a lot on the climate. I live in the Midwest and hang a wreath on my door, protected by a glass screen. In recent years, I haven’t had to take much care of it; I should probably spray it more often, but the cold keeps it in good condition for over a month. I imagine that in warmer, drier climates, you have to be more careful to prevent it from drying out.

You can buy small plastic water bottles to hold the branches. The ends are soft and pliable, and you can insert the branches without spilling the water. This will keep the flower fresher longer. However, you’ll need to refill the water every day or two. This is precisely what florists do for their beautiful, expensive, and fresh wreaths! They secure the bottles to the back of the wreath so they’re hidden from view. They’re available at Michael’s and other craft stores.
